Recruit: Software Developer, satellite data projects

UPDATE 17.12.2024. Thank you to all for applying, the deadline was December 13, 2024. We will review applications and notify each applicant of the decision.

Terramonitor is a satellite data expert company. We help our customers to utilise the satellite-based data by developing automated AI and ML workflows.

We are hiring SOFTWARE DEVELOPER for different customer projects and to develop our own processes. We are primarily looking for a good guy (or woman) who has the attitude that even though I don't know everything, I can figure it out.

Our customer projects are broadly based on private companies, large institutes such as the European Space Agency (ESA), and research communities. Examples of projects could include identifying deforestation in Scotland or integrating data from an enterprise resource planning system into another system under development.

So what's on our wish list? Some understanding of remote sensing processes or a desire to learn them, our main data source is satellite data, but we also utilize other spatial data. The main programming languages are Python and GDAL tools, for cloud services we use the AWS platform. We integrate processed data into customer systems through interfaces, so knowledge of terms such as Docker, WebSocket, REST and GraphQL will definitely be useful.

The ideal candidate has an interest in satellite data and other spatial data, an understanding of data science, the use of machine learning, neural networks and trendy artificial intelligence. But as we said at the beginning, the most important thing is to be a nice person with common sense.

So what do we have to offer? First of all, a permanent job in an IT company that operates in a somewhat niche field. We strive to be flexible, but efficient, without unnecessary hierarchy. We usually work in our office in Pasila one or three days a week, remote work is everyday life for all of us, but there is no place for someone who wants to work completely remotely, we still believe that sometimes things are better done at the same table. Of course, we demand that the work runs smoothly and that goals are set, but fairness must work both ways. We use Finnish and English as our official languages.

We will contact all applicants and do not leave any application unanswered. We will arrange a meeting with potential applicants at our office in Pasila or another suitable location in Helsinki.
